State first to set up public-pvt schools……Prafulla Marpakwar
Mumbai: Taking serious cognizance of the deteriorating standard of school education, the Congress-led Democratic Front government has drafted an ambitious public-private partnership plan to set up a network of English-medium model schools providing world-class education across the state.
We have the largest number of schools, but when it comes to quality our performance is dismal.Given our inad-resources,we are unable to initiate new concepts. With the PPP model,we can set up excellent schools, a senior official told TOI on Monday, adding that Maharashtra would be the first state to use the PPP model for education.
It was during a review of the school education department that the steady deterioration in the quality of education was traced to a resource crunch, lack of availability of competent manpower and inadequate technology. With the PPP model,we can bring in drastic changes in the quality of education at all levels.Besides share capital,we can utilize their professional skills and modern technology for setting up Adarsha schools, the official said.
