BMC babus will be trained in e-governance
Apart from lessons on e-business modules, the programme will also train the employees in change management principles. Change management looks to prepare a corporate employee for responding positively to a change. To increase its interface with citizens, the BMC switched to the e-governance module two years ago, where civic facilities were made available to the citizens on the net and functioning of civic departments was computerised. However, the SAP application was largely controlled by IT consultants employed by the civic body, as most of its employees were not e-savvy.
The civic body now wants to phase out the consultants and internalise all applications. For this, the babu has to undergo a makeover though. As per the training programme, a core group of 90 employees in five batches will be imparted training on various SAP business modules, including real estate, human resource, finance, material and fleet management.
“Change management will be weaved in all these modules,” a senior IT department official said. “Through this training program, we intend to rationalise, customise and internalise solutions provided by the BMC. We also want to increase the interface of the corporation employees with the general public,” a senior BMC official said.
