Environment, Health and Safety
Our products and processes are developed in accordance with strictly defined rules to ensure the safety of workers as well as the environment. Special consideration is accorded to aspects of safety and environmental protection right from the start of the development process. The company is making efforts to avoid any impact of the companys operations on the environment and people. Environmental issues, safety and compliance with national and international regulations are our top priorities. In fact the focus of our efforts in the specialty chemicals segment is on converting the user friendly processes into eco friendly processes.
Our safety policy encompasses following steps on our part:
Comply with all applicable safety, health and environmental laws and regulations,
Enhance awareness among employees through effective communication and training,
Investigate all workplace accidents, incidents leading to possible environmental pollution and/or illness in order to promptly correct/prevent any such conditions and/or practices.
To integrate SHE in business planning and decision-making.
An occupational health center with modern provisions for immediate attention to accident victims and for health checks has been constructed. In addition to a safety manager, an industrial hygienist has also been appointed to watch for possible occupational hygiene problems to secure early detection and rectification.
All our products and processes are developed and undertaken in accordance with strictly defined rules to ensure the safety of our employees and environment. We adhere to the environmental regulations stipulated by the Gujarat Pollution Control Board. Both manufacturing sites are well equipped with effluent treatment plants and a liquid spray incinerator. At these effluent treatment plants, diluted effluent streams are processed through an oil and grease separator, neutralization and equalization tanks, a primary settling tank, two stage aeration tanks, a holding tank, a sand filter, an activated carbon filter and sludge drying beds. Diluted effluent streams include the second washes of the reactors; the blow down of utilities and domestic sewage. The treated water is re-utilized for irrigation and gardening purposes. The incinerator system is used to incinerate highly concentrated streams of wastewater including the first washes of reactors. The treated flu-gas is released in the atmosphere through a chimney and the incinerator ash from the combustion bed is removed, collected in bags and stored in the sludge yard.
We have also installed a high pressure fire hydrant system throughout the manufacturing campus, connected to mobile foam units at all strategic points. On-site emergency services are in place and hazardous processes are either rejected or replaced keeping in view the safety of the workers and employees.
Frequent and intensive safety training programs are arranged for the workers throughout the year and independent safety and environmental audits are undertaken at regular intervals.
