1) The need for rating NGO’s is so that we can have some kind of system to valuate the large number of NGOs that exist in our country. In a world where so many people open trusts for a variety of reasons, there is a need to have some accountability and rating. Some organiseations are small and set up with a belief system and influence, attempts by business people to allay their consciences or as tax write offs, some organisations are set up to provide valuable and important services to our country that the government does not provide.
So many times, people say they do not trust an NGO because of this. If they had an independent value rating it would help them to see how essential the services of our organisation are.
2)Validity, % of money spent in direct care vs administrative expenses, size and number of recipients helped, impact of the work
3) Professionals in the field, and academics, a panel of elected members
