Deputy secretary under ACB scanner
A deputy secretary with the Directorate of Accounts and Treasury of Maharashtra government has come under the scanner of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of the city police in a bribe case.
The ACB had arrested Shrikan More, an assistant account officer in the department, on April 22 for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a Range Forest officer.
“We are looking to whether More had demanded the bribe at the behest of the deputy secretary,” additional commissioner of police Niket Kaushik told PTI.
More had visited the office of the Conservator of Forest in Yavatmal in December last year and found some “irregularities”.
He allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 18,000 from the forest officer to overlook the irregularities in the report that he was supposed to prepare, police said.
