| 1. Period of incident: | 2009 – Aug |
| 2. Services that were sought: | Passport verification – I applied passports for my kids vide application DLH – B001195 B001199. |
| 3. Problem/s I faced: | during police verification, they’ve cleared application for my younger kid and did not clear elder daughter’s report. Ironically, both applications were submitted and verified with same set of address proofs. |
| 4. Bribe amount: | Rs. 300/- as they didn’t move without it. |
| 5 a. Was the bribe paid? | Yes. |
| 5 b. Could the work have been done without paying the bribe? If so, how? | No way. |
| 6. Result: | Even after 6 months of application, my daughter has not been granted passport where as my younger son has got it. |

| 1. For head of government department: | |
| Suggestion 1: | Passport verification process is just a sham that too given to most corrupt department. It should be withdrawn from them. Let people upload documents/ submit documents and a private player with good corporate governance should be brought in. |
| 2. For the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) / Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI): | |
| Suggestion 1: | Everyone knows it. Catch hold of corrupt staff, give enough protection to citizens who come forward to report corruption so that people are encouraged to do so. Even, you can see the hesitation in me, I am not willing to reveal my contact details. |

| Suggestion 1: | Plan well, even if you pay bribe, you are at the mercy then why pay it at the first place. Get your documents stright instead of bribes. |
