According to Dr Sudhirkumar Goyal, principal secretary, Co-operation Department, the adalats will be organised at three levels every month – one for Mumbai City (from Colaba to Sion and Mahim), another for the western suburbs (Bandra to Dahisar) and the third for the eastern suburbs (Kurla to Mankhurd and Mulund).
Three district deputy registrars (DDRs) have been supervising the working of 19,230 registered CHS. Mahendra Kalyankar, divisional joint registrar informs that officials have been directed to invite CHS or residents engaged in disputes to the adalats that will be chaired by a DDR.
The first housing adalat was held at Chembur in February, where grievances of 48 CHS were heard in the presence of 189 complainents, said Kalyankar.
The cases were mainly related to maintainence of CHS, complaints against administrators, managing committees, transfer of flats, share certificates, general meetings and delay in holding elections to managing bodies. Some members even complained of leakages in flats and other residents – issues that should have been resolved at the CHS level.
Kalyankar has directed the DDRs to submit reports on such adalats by the fifth of each month.
