COMMITTEES AND ADVISORY BOARD ON CHILD LABOUR In terms of the Provisions of Section 5 of the Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Act, 1986, further occupations and processes may be added to the Schedule of the Act as per the recommendations of the Child Labour Technical Advisory Committee (CLTAC). The Committee consists of a Chairman and nine other Members appointed in terms of Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Rules. The Composition of the CLTAC may be seen by clicking here. Besides, CLTAC, a high level National Authority for Elimination of Child Labour has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Honble Labour Minister to lay down policies and programmes for elimination of child labour, particularly, in hazardous employments. The Authority is also expected to coordinate implementation of child labour related projects of various Ministries/Departments of the Central Government. In addition, a Central Advisory Board on Child Labour has also been constituted to review the implementation of the existing legislations and suggest measures for welfare of working children. Current Composition of the Board may be seen by clicking here. Finally, in order to monitor the functioning of the NCLPs, a Central Monitoring Committee has been formed. The Committee sees the overall supervision, monitoring and evaluation of the National Child Labour Projects. It is set up under the Chairmanship of Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment with representative of State Governments and concerned Ministries/Departments. The State Governments have also been advised to set up State Level Monitoring Committees similar to the Central Monitoring Committee to monitor functioning of National Child Labour Projects in their States.
