AHMEDABAD: In the first case reported by newly-constituted Ahmedabad rural anti-corruption bureau (ACB), an assistant sub-inspector from Dholka was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from an accident case accused.
According to ACB officials, an accident took place between a Maruti 800 and a bike on highway near Bavla on February 17. The case was investigated by ASI Bhimsinh Vaghela of Dholka outpost.
According to the complainant, Vaghela had asked Rs 5,000 to close the case ‘so as to avoid any legal hassles’. “We got a complaint and laid a trap on Monday evening where Vaghela was caught red-handed in presence of witnesses,” said AF Mansuri, inspector of rural ACB.
