Project Life Line Express
If a physically disabled person living in rural India cannot reach a hospital, then the hospital should reach him. AIS explored this revolutionary concept and supported the Life Line Express the worlds first hospital on rail that reaches those parts of India where medical facilities are scarce, and provides the much-needed medical care free of cost.
Through AISs efforts, it was for the first time that the rail-hospital came to Haryana, and benefited many under-served people in and around the Rewari district.
Project Life Line express was organized by AIS on a massive scale. The challenge was not only to bring the rail hospital to the people but also to tell them that they should make the best use of the opportunity. A month- long publicity campaign throughout Rewari district was carried out to educate and mobilize patients. The effort made the project a big success
Education
AIS has identified two villages – Kheramurar and Mohammadpur, in the vicinity of its Auto Glass Plant at Rewari – for eductional activities. Kheramurar is one of India’s most backward villages in terms of social indicators and Mohammadpur was choosen as a model village, from where AIS could develop an interventional model that could be replicated in other villages.
There are 3 broad categories of eductional activities that are being conducted:
- Improving quality of education;
- Providing soft infrastructure, and
- School buses for girl children.

- Remedial Classes: Two remedial classes were run for students of 7th and 8th standards in Kheramurar and Mohammadpur villages, with a total of 112 children. The results were encouraging. For example 13 children passed the 8th standard exam in 2005 compare to the results in 2004 when only 1 child passed the exam.

Currently, around 350 girl children in 18 villages surrounding AIS’s Auto Glass Plant at Rewari are using school bus facility. Some of the girls students who had dropped out of school have enrolled again because of the bus.
Water Supply

To address these problems, Mr. Tarun Bharat Singh, an expert on rainwater harvesting was contacted to understand the dynamics of rainwater harvesting. As adviced, village johads were renovated in Chirara and Tihara villages with the aim to raise the ground water level through rainwater harvesting.
