Action against Child Labour…

The Projects Division of Vivekananda Institute for Leadership Development, Mysore has been working with the NCLP Society, Chamarajanagar to mitigate the problem of child labour. VILD is involved in training project personnel (both from the Govt and the NGOs), monitoring work of the NGOs involved in the project (in the capacity of a District Lead Agency) and also in facilitating vocational training and income generation activities, targeting the elder siblings and parents of the child labourers.
Recently, Mr.Sanjeev Kumar, IAS, Coordinator of the Karnataka Child Labour Project and representatives of the International Labour Organization (ILO) visited the project and interacted with the staff and project beneficiaries. Mr.Basavaraju, Head Projects Division apprised them of the work done so far by VILD including the teaching aids and monitoring tools developed, vocational training opportunities and linkages created, etc. The project staff also shared the success stories from the field with the visitors, who were very appreciative of the work undertaken.
