Social movements need better linkages

Jeremy Seabrook, a freelance writer based in London, has written over 40 books of high social relevance to our times, apart from writing for most of the worlds leading newspapers and the BBC. Bharat Dogra spoke to him during his recent visit to Delhi:

Tell us about your recent work.

My latest book, The Fortress and the Refuge, is about the ambiguity of British policy towards refugees. Itll be published later this year by Palgrave McMillan. The British policy is skewed in favour of elites. London can be very accommodative towards these refugees. But it is tough and unjust if the refugee is a lowly worker.

Some years back you travelled a lot in India for researching the book, Notes From Another India. What impressions you brought from these interactions with Indias various social movements?
