CSR activities:
A flagship company of Anand Automotive Systems
The group contributes ten million INR per annum to develop the community in which it operates. All activities initiated are in alignment with the national goals, such as educating unprivileged children and providing health care and financial support to unattended and unprivileged patients especially HIV/AIDS bearers.
Anand was the first business house in the 70’s to start an industry in Parwanoo, which was then a ‘notified backward area’. With the establishment of its facilities, the Group set the pace for industrial development of the township that also helped in providing employment to the local people.
HIV/ AIDS
Over the years, the Group started a division for social responsibility development – SNS-Foundation that established community development centers in places where Anand facilities are located in the country. The developmental activities include education with emphasis on the girl child, health care of women in the reproductive age in particular, prevention of the spread of HIV/AIDS, protection of the environment and vocational skills training to enhance and sustain livelihood . These activities are conducted with selective participation of the Group employees. SNS-Foundation has also been interacting and networking with several business enterprises in India and abroad to bring them into the fold of developmental activities. Owing to its efforts, the Foundation has received support from Anand collaborators, notably Henkel of Germany which has given it financial support and donated three vans that are a mobile health clinics, providing Medicare including oral health care and reproductive health care.
Girl Child Campaign
An issue that has been an area of focus is the ‘Girl Child Campaign’. In view of the discriminatory attitude towards women in society, the Foundation focuses its efforts to sensitize young children, adolescents, youth, and adults about gender equality. Visual art being a powerful medium of motivating children, SNS-Foundation has organized painting competitions for schoolchildren the country, where children express their perception about the condition of the girl child. Selected paintings have been exhibited in India and in Germany with plans to take the exhibition to UK as well.
Zero Tolerance Child Labour
The Foundation’s Gurgaon Centre is implementing of a project called ‘Town Enrichment Action Movement’, better known by its acronym, TEAM, which was initially supported thru’ the years 2000 to 2003 supported by the British High Commission and United Nations Development Progroamme (UNDP). Now into its 12th year, TEAM that started with few hundred children now reaches out to over 10,000 children and has been adopted by several public, government schools with several NGOs also taking up the cudgels.
TEAM aims at mobilizing the diverse sections of Gurgaon’s civil society through an Action Committee to support its initiative in making Gurgaon Zero Tolerance for Child Labour. Using methods and approaches like exposure visits, seminars, workshops, and street plays, the core TEAM Committee members will be sensitized and trained to create necessary pressure in Gurgaon on various issues.
The long-term objective is to draw all the children below 18 yrs age in Gurgaon into compulsory education programme.
