Childrens Welfare
- Both globally and in India, sanofi-aventis recognises that disparity and deprivation in childrens lives can have damaging, far-reaching consequences. Our commitment to redressing such deprivation has resulted in identifying two worthwhile causes and partnering wholeheartedly on them
- SOS Childrens Villages-SOS Childrens Villages, a project established by SOS-India, aims to help children in need. Orphaned children and those rendered homeless by the occurrence of disasters, natural calamities or riots are given a family, a home environment and a strong foundation for an independent and secure life.
- Sanofi-aventis in India has sponsored two family homes at the SOS Childrens Villages in Latur and Pune in the state of Maharashtra. A family consists of between eight and ten children and their SOS mother. Provided with basic facilities, such as education, the children remain with their family until they become independent and can support themselves. Thereafter, too, SOS-India assumes responsibility for supporting the children for their marriages and vocations
- CHILDLINE a lifeline-The other childrens welfare initiative we support is CHILDLINE. With a unique partnership of over 150 organisations across 21 states in India, the Government of India, corporates and individuals, CHILDLINE is quite literally a lifeline, a 24-hour, free helpline service, accessed by dialing 1098, for children in distress. Operational in 67 cities in India, this project has entertained eight million calls since it was first instituted in 1996.Our association with CHILDLINE was consolidated by our regular participation in The Standard Chartered Mumbai and Delhi Marathon for the last three years. This helps in raising funds towards the cause of CHILDLINE that ensures that these children get the support they need to overcome their unfortunate circumstances and look forward to a secure future
- It has partnerd with WHO for eradication of polio in developing countries
Enviornment
SAVE – Sanofi-aventis Values Environment- is a project involving enhancement and protection of the environment.
With an increasing threat of diseases, the world today is also facing a threat of natural disasters due to environmental abjection. As the first initiative under this project, our doctors who are our key stake holders were presented with potted plants. This can be considered as a small gesture of immense potential that would contribute to the larger effort to SAVE the environment.
We will continue to identify worthwhile causes and help organisations engaged in exemplary work. For we know that even in the face of distress we can make a difference to the lives of those affected and create a better world
