AUROPLASTY
Women pierce their ear lobules to wear earrings. Heavy earrings can lead to large hole or slit opening (cleft) in the lobule. Women then prefer to close this cleft.
Closing of cleft can be achieved either by medical application or suturing. Trichoro Acetic Acid application on the edge by the doctor and dressing can gradually reduce the small cleft. The disadvantage of this method is that weekly application of the acid is required. There is no guarantee that cleft will definitely be closed or will not reopen with slightest heavy earring.
The best method is suturing the cleft. It is done under local anaesthesia in the clinic. If woman desires, even a small hole can be left while suturing so that re-piercing is not required. The sutures are removed after 7 days. |
