children’s bay at Malad orphanage
On the occasion of Children’s Day, management and staff of intercontinental The Grand Hotel Sahar visited Daya Vihar Orphanage, Malad. The orphanage is managed by John Chacko and his wife Asha John. This is a part of the activity by Compassion Charitable Trust which shelters street children who are abandoned by their parents. Currently housing 25 such orphans picked from railway stations, streets and slums, they have rescued and adopted children working in slaughter houses and tobacco factories. On the occasion of Children Day, the team set up a buffet for these children at their premises where they sang together and had fun.
Sujata Gowda, food and beverage executive said, “We could have participated with bigger charitable organisations, as they all are doing a great job, but this year we wanted to get to people who do not get huge sponsors sor we organised lunch for them at their premises and all departments contributed they could for this cause.”
