Call helpline to complain about potholed roads in Mumbai………Ninad Siddhaye
Tired of paying toll on a road which continues to be full of potholes or obstructions?
Very soon you will be able to tell your grievances to the authorities. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), which has approximately 35 to 40 tolled roads throughout the state, has plans to launch a state-wide helpline that can take note of problems of millions of motorists who pay toll every day.
“The plan is to be more proactive as an organisation,” said MSRDC vice-chairman and managing director Bipin Shrimali.
“We have close to 40 toll plazas at various places across the state. We are planning to start a helpline on these, which will enable motorists to lodge their complaints regarding any problem or impediments they come across while travelling on the road. The idea is that the motorist’s call will reach the nearest MSRDC engineer and he will have to act on the issue within a specific period, say 15 days,” said Shrimali.
This is just part of the plan. According to Shrimali, the dedicated helpline will also be connected to his office, and complaints and suggestions will be monitored on a daily basis.
“While the complaints, which are local in nature, will be attended by either executive engineers, superintending engineers or chief engineers depending on the seriousness of the complaint, the headquarters will also keep an eye on the issues neglected by our zonal offices. The reports will come to my office on a daily basis and action will be initiated against officers who are ignorant,” added Shrimali.
He assured that the corporation will ensure action in each case within 15 days and the complainant will be informed accordingly.
