Check if decibel levels are within limit, HC tells govt….DNA Correspondent
The Bombay High Court on Thursday directed principal secretary (Home) to convene a meeting within two weeks to review the implementation of measures to curb noise pollution in the city.
The meeting will include officials from the MPCB and the MMRDA. The officials will look into allegations made by Awaaz Foundation, which has filed a PIL in the HC regarding non-implementation of noise pollution reduction measures. The officials have been asked to check if religious institutions are using loudspeakers that violate the permissible limit and if they are being used after the 10pm deadline.
The case will come up for hearing on July 31.
