Lessons on wise management of water in June
Mumbai: With the water crisis hitting the metropolis hard, the Indian Water Works Association will be holding a seminar on Wise Water Management on June 5 and 6 at Mayor’s Hall in Andheri.
The first day of the seminar will see lectures by prominent speakers including Dr Prasad Modak of the Environmental Management Centre (EMC), Dr Vicente Santiago, Water Officer of the United Nations Environment Program – International Environmental Technology Centre (UNEP-IETC ), Chintan Daya and Ulhas Paranjpe. Dr Modak, a respected Indian environmentalist as well as the Executive President and founder of the EMC and Dr Santiago will be the keynote speakers and will deliver lectures on the Global Situation on Urban Water Use and the UNEP-IETC’s Water Use Efficiency— Every Drop Counts— Project respectively.
Daya will give a lecture on reducing water demand through water-efficient fixtures and Paranjpe will give a lecture on the implementation of rain water harvesting systems in Mumbai. A team from Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers will also speak about a case study on water recycling.
The second day will comprise a workshop and a role playing exercise on water use reduction.
As many as 150 delegates are expected to attend, mostly from Municipal Corporations within Maharashtra.
