Building a better future
The Rustomjee Academy for Global Careers, a concern of Keystone Realtors has started a certificate course in construction site supervision. It has been launched in association with other construction majors like Ajmera Group Enterprises, Mahindra Lifepaces, Kanakia Spaces etc. It is aimed at freshers and blue collar workers, with some experience.
“There is a huge gap of supervisory skills between the engineer and the site worker,” says, Kavi Luthra, VP, Strategic Alliance, Rustomjee Group of Schools. “To bridge this gap, our students are trained not only in construction skills like RCC, masonary, and finishing, but also in liasoning with the knowledge workers and the unskilled labourers,” he adds. The programmes’ industry partners offer paid internships during the course and jobs upon its completion. Engineers will teach special subjects and conduct workshops. The one year programme is divided into three semesters of four months each. In the first month of each semester the students are taught theoretical aspects, followed by three months of on-site practical training, for which they will receive a stipend of approximately Rs3000. The fees for the course is Rs16000, which can be paid in instalments. The course is open to freshers, labourers with experience, those making a career switch and experienced workers looking for an industry recongised certification. After completing the programme, the students graduate with a Certificate in Site Construction Supervision, which is recognised by the State Board of Vocational Education.
