Doctors work long hours to cope with rush of blast victims
Mumbai, July 13: With a huge rush of serial blasts victims pouring in city hospitals on the fateful day, the medicos worked long shifts, continuously for almost 25-30 hours, to take care of 600 injured commuters.
Team of doctors in most of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)-run hospitals worked long shifts ranging between 25-30 hours to cope with the rush of blast victims.
“Our doctors worked continuously for last 30 hours… After this immense work, now the situation has been brought under control. Most of the patients with minor injuries have been discharged while a few others are undergoing treatment”, said officials of city corporation’s Sion Hospital in central Mumbai.
BMC runs the two hospitals where most of the affected people were admitted.
“The doctors and the staff here treated us efficiently. We are satisfied with the way the whole machinery functioned after the tragedy,” said Biju Nair, A Dombivali resident who was injured in the powerful blast at Mahim.
Deepak Kadam, a western railway employee, who was a victim of another blast at Matunga station said, “I was brought here by some local people who rescued us after the blast. After coming here, the hospital doctors treated me and I am satisfied with the treatment.”
