B: My Complaint Details
1. Period of incident: | Before 2007 |
2. Services that were sought: | We want to know the Axis Bank’s ATM and other Rooms constructed in the Chembur Railway Station compound is legally allotted by Railways. If yes, how the allotment done? Whether tender called? For what amount the space allotted in the Railway compound? Who is the beneficiaries name? |
3. Problem/s I faced: | There is already very less space in Chembur Railway station. I come to know some vested interest parties encroached the railway land and constructed shops in Rly. compound which is rented out for bank like Axis Bank’s ATM. The contract is between private parties and railway instead of bank and rly. |

D: My Suggestions | |
1. For head of government department:
Suggestion 1: | Railway Ministry and other concerned department should thoroughly investigate the matter in the interest of public and demolish the existing structure and sent notice to the concerned parties immediately. The role of Chembur Railway officials, and other officials of Railways, politicians, BMC officials should thoroughly investigated and take appropriate action. |
Suggestion 2: | In Chembur Railway Station, future expansion getting hurdle by such encroachments, which need to be stopped immediately as a matter of railway police and such encroachment whether temporary and permanent should not be allowed anywhere in Mumbai as railway already facing space constraints. Number of commuters and collection of railways are increasing day by day with the same infrastructure without much improvement of the existing infrastructure which needs to be improved in the interest of public |
Suggestion 3: | There is seating facilities for the commuters in the Chembur Railways especially for outstatioin booking and witness a long endless queue and people compelled to stand long time to come to their turn. Railways should avoid inconvenience to the commuters by stopping such encroachment. Instead the available space should be utilised for station development and amenities like drinking water, providing loos, toilet, seating arrangement, proper lighting etc which lack in Chembur station. |
2. For the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) / Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI):
Suggestion 1: | The role of Railway officials, politician, BMC, and the real beneficiaries should thoroughly enquired and appropriate action initiated. If politicians or any big individuals involved, CBI should investigate the case and book the culprits. Need to procedure adopted in allocation of such galas in the station compound. There is great secrecy surrounding in the whole issue. There is heavy encroachment going on from the side of Janata market and lots of space illegally occupied by some shopkeepers also who have great politician connection. Hence authorities reluctant to take any action against these individuals. |
Suggestion 2: | There is a possibility of huge amount of bribe involved in this activities and the real beneficiaries are some private citizen instead of railways which need a thorough probe. The involvement of station officials, BMC cannot be ignored. These illegal construction is done without proper procedure like calling open tenders through newspapers/ media, taken necessary permission from concerned authorities, |
3. For other citizens: | |
Suggestion 1: | Need to demolish such illegal construction and need to immediately inform the concerned authorities. |
E: I am not ready to reveal contact details because
Involvement of political and other influencial persons.
