ACB Arrests Mah Jeevan Pradhikaran Secretary on Graft Charges
Mumbai : The secretary of Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran was today arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 for not cancelling a water-supply contract, officials said here.
Madhav Domkondwar was arrested while accepting the bribe at his official flat at Malbar Hills.
Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran, an undertaking of the state water supply department, had awarded a Rs 16 crore contract for supplying water to the villages situated along the bank of the river Amba in Pen tehsil of Raigad district.
Work worth Rs 12 crore had already been carried out and Domkondwar had allegedly sought Rs 5 lakh from the contractor for not revoking the contract for the rest of the work.
