ACB arrests Botad DSP in disproportionate assets case
VADODARA: Vadodara Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials arrested deputy superintendent (SP) N M Parmar on Tuesday in a four-year-old case of disproportionate assets case. Parmar, who is serving at Botad in Bhavnagar, was arrested and produced before the district court. He, however, was released on bail.
ACB had booked Parmar for having assets worth over Rs 38 lakh in 2006. Officials carried out raids at Parmar’s house then and found assets worth Rs 11 lakh. Following the recovery, ACB made further investigations and found more assets worth Rs 17 lakh.
“Parmar’s assets were disproportionate to his income and, hence, a case was registered against him. We arrested him on Tuesday and produced him before the court. We also submitted a charge sheet in the court,” said investigating officer and ACB police inspector J T Sonara.
“A covert inquiry was on against Parmar since 2002 after ACB got complaints against him. Parmar was serving in Amreli as DSP when we carried out raids at his residence in the city,” Sonara said. Parmar had joined the police force in 1978 as sub-inspector and then got promoted to inspector and DSP. He had served for quite some time in the city before being transferred to other places.
