Section officer held for taking `bribe’ at Secretariat
HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Wednesday trapped R K Vijayalakshmi, a section officer with the minorities welfare department, at her office in A-Block in Secretariat while accepting Rs 6,000 alleged bribe from a pastor of a church, at Gudikal village of Yemmiganur in Kurnool district.
The officer had allegedly sought the bribe for sending the pastor’s file to the district collector, Kurnool, to issue an ICM certificate so that he could perform marriages. The pastor is from Gudikal village in Yemmiganur in Kurnool district.
ACB joint director (city) A Abraham Lincon told TOI that the tainted amount of Rs 6,000 was recovered from the section officer’s handbag. After the incident, ACB officials went to her house at Patigadda and started searches.
The section officer was arrested. She would be produced before the principal special judge for SPE & ACB cases, Hyderabad on Thursday.
