As Copenhagen unfolds, the debates are getting less and less productive. Ultra-nationalists (including polititicans, big business, and, increasingly some particularly closed-minded social activists) are behaving like the big boys of the nuclear age (US and Russia). What they have in mind for the people of Planet Earth is Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD). And while they go about negotiating the future of mankind, they forget that the planet itself is not sitting at the negotiating table with them. This “Third Rock From the Sun” neither debates, nor judges. It merely delivers consequences, of which climate change is just one.
