Marathi encyclopedia for visually impaired
Mumbai, Dec 8: The first Marathi Encyclopedia for visually-challenged children was launched by Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan today.
It has been prepared by the Maharashtra State Vishwakosh Nirmiti Mandal in association with the National Association for the Blind.
The Governor complimented the Mandal, its chairperson Dr Vijaya Wad and NAB for opening the doors of knowledge to the visually impaired children by producing the encyclopedia in Braille.
The reading of paragraphs from the Encyclopedia by two visually impaired girls Nikita Sonawane of the Kamala Mehta School for the blind and Ankita Raut of the Pragati Vidyalaya moved the Governor and the assembled gathering to tears.
Wad told the Governor that copies of the encyclopedia will be distributed to all schools for the blind in across the state.
