Dear Sir/ Madam;
We are requesting your kind attention, as a newly founded NGO– (Non government organization) we are dedicated to support and welfare of Blind People in and around Mira Road. Please visit us at our office at any time by fixing an appointment.
INTRODUCTION
Blind People’s Welfare Association was founded on 8th August 2007. Its office is situated at above address which is just 2 to 3 minutes walking distance from Mira Road Railway station.
Our founder President is Mrs. Khalida M. Khan who is a qualified M.A., B.Ed Teacher and has been a Resource (Special) Teacher for last 20 years for the visually impaired students in Municipal Corporation Pune. She was honored with the Best Teacher’s Award by Maharashtra State Governments award for year 1985. She has been a life member of National Federation of the Blind Pune, and National Association for the Blind-Mumbai and an active worker in Pune Blind Men’s Association also.

OUR OBJECTIVES:
1. Giving free Computer Education and running Music Classes.
2. Providing free Tuition on part time basis to help visually impaired students in their School studies.
3. Rendering legal advice and guidance to all for their bright and independent future.
4. Conducting special and regular trainings to improve mobility in visually impaired people.
5. Arranging Eye test Camps and treatments by distributing spectacles along with minor surgical operations.
6. Offering to the visually impaired students various Teaching Aids viz. text books slates, note books braille papers, magnifiers and touchable maps, drawings and graphics, as well as mathematical articles, many boys and girls learn thru audio c.d. players, we give them pens to practice and make signatures when required.
7. Providing Escorts and motor transport and care takers for needy and visually impaired students along with tutors readers and writers in examinations.
8. Frequent door to door visits/Survey is made to cater the needs of distantly located visually impaired. We inspire them to get education and learn to work with ordinary people. We arrange medical checkups especially optical tests and manage urgent care.
9. Assisting in securing admissions in various institutions like colleges training centers, hostels, hospitals etc.
10. Being member of the committee for visually impaired women, Mrs. Khalida M. Khan is especially interested in the activities of visually impaired women for their welfare. She finds job opportunities for housewives & visually impaired girls and work for their betterment.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
1. We arrange Picnics, Musical Programmes and various competitions like writing & reading in Braille and poetry recitation etc.
2. We provide Computer Education to many visually impaired students. We also provide part time free coaching/tuitions to prepare for standard X examinations.
3. We assist our members in getting various suitable jobs like, typist, telephone operators etc. for the visually impaired people.
4. We arrange group visits to Science Exhibitions.
5. We assist our members to participate in various swimming completions, cricket tournaments and chess games.
6. We distribute sweets, foodstuffs, clothes and uniforms to visually impaired students on national festivals and on many other important occasions.
7. We arrange volunteers and medical treatment to the needy poor visually impaired students whose parents are unable to take care of them.
8. We give free white canes to the poor visually impaired so that they learn mobility with confidence by themselves.
OUR RESOURCES:
We operate from one Room to run our office which is given by our President Mrs. Khalida Khan to serve the blinds visiting us everyday for their daily problems. Besides, we have a team of honorary social workers almost from all the walks of the life who offer their services to help visually impaired students in education as readers and writers for them. They also work as guide Teachers for School going blind. We have one computer and a few musical instruments to train our needy members for their betterment.
So far we have been working on all our projects by our own finance and manpower. Therefore, we seek financial assistance to expand our future projects and complete our running projects smoothly.
OUR VISION:
There are several visually impaired people who run their family by their own hard and honest efforts. Many are jobless or do earn so little that they find almost impossible to meet their daily needs.
Some of our members are encouraged to take up small business viz. sell lottery tickets, making and selling popcorn or any foodstuff.
We mainly need moral and financial support to let visually impaired people live with pride and dignity. We are gathering the visually impaired members from the locality that are un-organized and need moral and financial support.
We wish to support, train, motivate and generate confidence in visually impaired to become independent and live a very dignified life.
We are a charitable Association. We need financial assistance to take up and complete our projects. We shall also be happy to receive any household articles such as clothes, furniture, scrap items like old news-papers and auto-vehicles motor bikes cars or electronic gadgets as radio sets, TV, computers etc.
We also wish to expand our activities to set up Schools with special education, Clinics and Industrial Training Centers to identify the latent talents and abilities in our members that may be explored and utilized in making them self-sufficient.
We look forward to your generous support in order to make their dreams come true. We request foreign well-wishers to please donate in kind (by sending material gifts like, used clothes, scrap articles, packed fresh foodstuff, milk powder, food grain or educational aids like computers and toys etc.) only, because we are in the process of getting the required permission from the government to accept help in cash or currencies.
