FRESH FROM THE PRESS!
SPECIAL ISSUE ON NEPAL
A platform for concerned persons working for peace and justice, Combat Law
engages in an active, meaningful and vibrant discussion to foster a climate
for legal activism in pursuit of crafting a more tolerant, just, democratic
and equitable world. The bimonthly provides its readers with sharp analysis
of some of the most pressing legal/human rights issues of our times. Our
writers comprise experts, lawyers, professors and journalists, who more
often are also activists, and are amongst the leaders in their respective
fields.
The content is useful to legal practitioners, groups of activists, students
and all those interested in an alternative and progressive viewpoint.
The current special issue on Nepal focuses on current conflict, political
situation, legal intricacies, the state of human rights and the way forward.
The editorial emphasis is on bringing about democracy and peace in the
country, enacting a new Constitution that reflects the aspiration and dreams
of the marginalised.
After conceptualising the issue, our editorial team visited Nepal and
traveled through towns and villages, all the way from Kathmandu to far west.
The group attended a number of political meetings, interacted with a cross
section of society, including Maoists, army commanders, political leaders,
judiciary, civil society groups, human rights bodies, madheshi community,
women’s groups, janjatis, and dalits, among others. The Combat Law team
gathered testimonies of a number of victims of king’s atrocities, a few of
which have been carried in the issue. It has been our effort to carry most
of the articles written by experts from Nepal. The issue is useful to all
those concerned about the future of this little Himalayan nation.
