Editors note:
The 4th Annual Prasad Chikitsa Well-Baby Competition gave new meaning to the phrase, healthy competition. On Nov. 14, 2008, 21 proud mothers and fathers, and 19 beautiful children, ages 1-3 years, participated in this preventive health care initiative where everyone is a winner.
Five-year-old Johnathon Maiori sauntered confidently aboard the mobile dental clinic for his first-ever dental exam. He even had a jaunty grin as he scrambled up into the big exam chair. Then, with a bib clipped under his chin, and a lead, x-ray apron weighing him down, Johnathon took in the strange-looking implements; His expression went from confident to concerned. Mommy? he asked uncertainly. Im right here, said his mom, Jessica Maiori.
According to recent estimates, there are approximately 2.5 million individuals who are HIV positive in India. As the number of people living with HIV/AIDS continues to grow, so does the importance of your support of PRASAD Chikitsas HIV/AIDS program in the Tansa Valley. Since its inception, in April 2004, the program of awareness, prevention, diagnosis and treatment has reached more than 60,000 men, women and children. Here, schoolboys listen intently during a recent HIV/AIDS Awareness and Prevention presentation in their classroom.
The Subject Tonight is Love, a poem by the Persian poet, Hafiz, was the theme of a benefit concert which Lazlo Laz and Helen Slomovits performed on January 17, 2009. Joan Hennigar hosted the concert in her studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
