Photo project titled Humans of Mumbai launched in city….Humaira Ansari
Several portraits featuring ordinary Mumbaiites in public spaces make up Humans of Mumbai, a photography project started by Ravi Bohra, 32, a freelance photographer.
Bohra has spent the past two months taking at least two photographs a day, which he uploads on the projects Facebook page facebook.com/humansofmumbai. His aim is to take at least 1,000 quintessentially Mumbai photographs and turn them into a coffee-table book.
Bohra is a stakeholder in the familys Bohra Brothers production house and has worked as an assistant ad film director with adman Prahlad Kakkar for six years.
Humans of Mumbai is inspired by Humans of New York, a photo series started by Brandon Stanton.
For Bohra, this project is about marrying his enthusiasm for photography with his zest for everything Mumbai. I am trying to stay away from clichés as far as possible, says Bohra. However, if a group or individual thinks they represent Mumbai in a unique way, they can email me at humansofmumbai@gmail.com and I will gladly include them.
Bohra will also announce themes around which people can send in their own photographs.
