CIVICUS seeks to recruit a Communications and Media Manager. The purpose of the position is to enhance and manage CIVICUS communications so as to support the CIVICUS vision of a worldwide community of informed, inspired, committed citizens engaged in confronting the challenges facing humanity.
The overall responsibilities will include working with the CIVICUS Secretary General to develop a communications strategy based on the new strategic directions of CIVICUS and taking the lead in its implementation. Specific tasks and responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing CIVICUS Communications Strategy
- Managing the CIVICUS website and electronic media as a key communication function
- Managing media relations as a key communication function of CIVICUS
- Managing other key communication functions of CIVICUS
- Managing the communications department
Necessary Qualifications
- Background in media studies and/or experience working in media relations
- Knowledge of website development and management
- Strong command of written and oral English
- Excellent editing skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in civil society advocacy and campaigning
- Experience in writing policy papers
- Language proficiency in one or more of the UN languages
- Interest and/or experience in website design and making use of ICT as a tool for effective communication
