About Prerana: Since its inception in 1986, Prerana has protected victims of commercial sexual exploitation & human trafficking, assisting over 5,000 children and transferring 1,000 from the red light areas to children’s welfare institutions for long term residential care and protection. Its services to children encompass shelter, nutrition, health, like skills development and parenting.
Regarded as a pioneer in tackling second generation trafficking of children, Prerana has a gamut of comprehensive care and support resource services, including a globally recognized advocacy and training component. It provides shelter to approximately 230-250 children on any given night in its 3 Night Care Centres (NCC) and covers 800 children through comprehensive educational support programs. Prerana?s existing Anti-Trafficking Centre (ATC) is a reliable resource for information, consultation, sensitization, capacity building and training. Prerana has deep-seated links with
several government departments, international/ regional organizations, and its activities have recurrently received global acknowledgement.
Job Description: Prerana is looking for energetic & enthusiastic individuals who can contribute to the dynamic and challenging activities of Prerana. The position of Project Director for NCC (Night Care Centers), IPP (Institutional Placement Program), ESP (Educational Support Program) and other care & support services will be based between the two locations in South Mumbai. This is a managerial role, requiring strong entrepreneurial spirit, drive and ambition. The position provides an exceptional opportunity for an individual with superior leadership, analytical, and interpersonal
skills to lead teams, ensure seamless implementation of programs, recruitment, coordination and crisis prevention.
Responsibilities
Project Implementation & Reporting
* Day-to-day supervision of project managers/project coordinators to ensure the timely implementation of projects through accomplishment of quantitative/qualitative targets
* Supervision of project grants to ensure appropriate utilization
* Identification and articulation of new projects and areas of intervention
* Timely preparation and submission of project proposals ans reports to prospective sponsors
* Preparation and submission of internal and external monthly, quarterly and yearly project reports
* Updation of website and MIS system Personnel Management
* Oversee management of project coordinators/managers to ensure smooth inter-personnel relations, balance of work load and responsibilities and assume responsibility for all other staff/personnel related issues
* Undertake staff performance appraisals on a quarterly basis and take ownership for all aspects of staff development and performance (to include increments, incentives, promotions, retrenchment, suspension)
* Assume responsibility for ensuring identification, selection, appointment, orientation and attendance of new project coordinators/managers Public Relations & Interface
* Supervise all arrangements for external visititors by coordinating with project directors, accounts and finance departments. Personally attend all visitors to centre
* Undertake liaison and relationship building with external and internal stakeholders (state agencies/external players) by ensuring regular functional and healthy networking
* Ensure quality and relevant PR literature is available to all internal and external stakeholders Quality
* Ensure minimum quality standards in all aspects of work under relevant jurisdiction are adhered to
* Provide back-up support to the Resource Mobilization Team as and when required
* Identify areas/gaps that warrant an improvement in quality standards Advocacy
* Undertake the gathering, consolidation and dissemination of critical information, whilst taking into consideration the legal implications to Prerana
* Arrange policy consultations to students, media, policy makers,scholars, elected representatives, administrators, civil society representatives and others
* Facilitate and contribute to national, regional and global networking events
* Take responsibility for the identification, analysis and articulation of issues for advocacy Infrastructure
* Ensure that safety and clear access to infrastructure is adhered to as well as overseeing and managing the quick correction/solution of problems, failures and hurdles in the usage of the centers infrastructure Minimum qualifications, experience and skills required
Post graduate degree in Social Work A minimum of 10 years (following graduation) of operational or management experience gained in either a private or not-for-profit
environment and a minimum of 5 years work experience in a senior level
position.
Languages
Fluency (oral and written) in Hindi and English; familiarity in
Marathi is a plus
