Situation is even worst in festival season because of hawkers, a
Mockery Supreme courts order
In spite of supreme court order, still our streets r not free of hawkers especially now during festival season, they r further more crowded and with this it is still more inconvenient or rather very risky or next to impossible for elderly weak senior citizen, women and children to use them. Such highly over crowded streets could result in a very pathetic situation and would become impossible to control if some untoward incidence happens.
To our surprise, instead of removing encroachment by hawkers, our police makes these road as special one ways or no entry especially from ‘Dhantereas till Bhawbhij and also few days before Chand raat of Ramjan Id, thus further facilitating these hawkers to further spread their goods on road and some even occupy center of the road along with their handcart. This situation could be easily seen in any of the busy railway stations roads or adjoining busy bazaar roads of most of the suburbs.
In spite of Supreme Court order, even this year, there is no relief from this situation. Should we expect any thing better or just see the pathetic mockery of Supreme Court order. Should some NGO come forward for relief this time and file a contempt of court proceedings against those who r not following its order.
Also I am pasting a posting by ‘Ar.Ashok Sinha’ who wrote on ‘Consumer Voice India’ on Oct 8, 2005.
In fact this has been a evergrowing problem with not only mumbai but with all the metros. Moreover the Police and the burocracies response to it has been pathetic
considering the social benefits.
We all need to fight out these kind of petty issues be it the Gundaism of the Police or the corruption spread all over. I do feel for the some steps to be followed in this regard.
1. We need to use TV as a media for louding our voice in a much stronger way keeping in mind their mass aproach and after effects. For which some channels could be contacted and they can air our stories about it.. Similarily if we could find a place in some national newspaper also that could be a lot of help.
2.We need to raise voice against more of social disorders, misuse of power and corruptions etc than
the individual hue and cry.
3. We need to form a powerful lobby which can further contact the concerned minister or the govts representatives and put the pressure to apply the solutions for it.
4. To run an institute like this we may need to form may be an NGO for which I am happily willing to share my responsibilities and extend all my support to it in all possible manners.
