Will Gandhigiri help TADA convicts?

After protests, they are saying it with letters and flowers. The 68 people booked under TADA in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case have taken to Gandhigiri hoping that they will get a clean chit from the court.
If Sanjay Dutt, booked under similar charges can be let free by TADA, why not the rest of the 68? says convicts families who are demanding relief under the Probabtion of Offenders Act. They say the 68 cases should be seen in the same light as Dutt’s.
The families of the accused are piling up letters written from jail at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Samadhi in Dadar. They hope that seeking blessings of the founding father of constitution will surely help them get a fair judgement.
He has made the constitution. So we want him to hear our request, said Noor Bibi adding that she is confident, her son-in-law and husband will be cleared of the charges after remaining behind bars for 14-years.
Similar is the appeal of Mohammed Shaikh, whose son was booked under TADA 14-years ago. “This is our last hope, we’re looking at the protector of law to save us now,” he said.
With actor Sanjay Dutt out on bail and the court still in deliberations over the fate of the others convicts, the pleas to Babasaheb’s statue will carry little weight in the corridors of justice.
