To ensure quick action and minimum damage during terror attacks, city colleges are imparting lessons to students in handling disasters.
According to the civic disaster management cell, 29 colleges affiliated to the Mumbai University have enrolled for a course in disaster management. “We have conducted workshops in three colleges, including Ruparel and Somaiya college,” said Vilas Vaidya, chief officer, disaster cell.
Vaidya said the workshop trained students on ways to mitigate loss during disasters. “Experienced personnel, including police official, will lecture students on how they can help locate a bomb and what measures should be taken in case of a blast.”
Joint municipal commissioner SS Shinde in the aftermath of hospitals being targeted by terrorists, the disaster cell will also train doctors from three Sion, KEM and Nair hospital – ins disaster management.
