4500 Children Join G4S to Celebrate Happy Day in India
The G4S Happy Day on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 involved over 4500 underprivileged children in India and over 10000 underprivileged children in the NAMESA region. G4S, the world leader in security solutions, celebrated commitment to the society on the 3rd Happy Day celebrations across 20 cities in India and over 50 cities internationally.
G4S India celebrated the day with the theme of Carnival. Over 600 G4S executives and their families joined in to bring happiness to the little guests and adding add the personal touch to bring smiles and moments of joy with the sole purpose of infusing positive thoughts and energy in them. The celebrations were organized in association with several leading NGO’s, associations taking care of blind, the jail crehe, mentally disabled, orphans and children with limited means including HOPE Foundation, SOS, National Centre of Autism and India Vision Foundation.
In the Gurgoan/Delhi NCR, over 500 underprivileged children celebrated the “Spirit of Carnival” at Apno Ghar, Gurgoan. The celebrations were organized in association with several leading NGO’s including HOPE Foundation, SOS, National Centre of Autism and India Vision Foundation.
In Bangalore, over 400 underprivileged children celebrated the theme from the popular children’s novel “Snow White and the seven dwarfs” at the Country club, Yelahanka. The celebrations were organized in association with several leading NGOs and charity organisations including the Infant Jesus Charity home and the Gerisim Rehabilitation Trust.
In Pune, over 200 orphans celebrated the theme for the day “Music” at Sanskriti, Pune. The celebrations were organized in association with several leading NGOs associations taking care of blind, the jail crèche, mentally disabled, orphans and children with limited means including Sanskriti.
In Chennai, over 200 underprivileged children celebrated one of the most loved cartoon characters “Mickey Mouse” at VGP Golden Beach resort. The celebrations were organized in association with several leading NGO’s including Udhavum Ullangal Illam -Adambakkam and Singaperum ai Koi.
In Mumbai, over 250 mentally challenged children celebrated the theme for the day “Music” at Nanawati hospital and Dilkhush special school. The celebrations were organized in association with several leading NGO’s, associations including Dilkhush special school and Kalyandeep.
In Hyderabad, over 300 underprivileged children celebrated the theme for the day “Arabian Nights” at the Aalaskarida Resort. The celebrations were organized in association with several leading NGOs and charity organisations including Siria Orphans Residential school.
Sharing G4S commitment to children and society, Mr. David Hudson, Regional President G4S North Africa, Middle East and South Asia (NAMESA) Region said, “Happy Day is part of our ongoing endeavor internationally to contribute to the society in every way possible and what better than supporting children. Each year we try to make a difference to the lives of several children on this special occasion. Happy Day is G4S’s annual presentation of its commitment to society and seeks to spread happiness to underprivileged and orphaned children. Happy Day is celebrated on 3rd of March every year throughout NAMESA Region (North Africa, Middle East and Southern Asia) of G4S covering 26 countries at more than 50 locations. Happy Day is conceived to extend a personal touch to the underprivileged and disadvantaged children. “Happy Day” was initiated to celebrate a fun filled day with children who are less fortunate.
Discussing the importance of Happy Day, Ms. Rehana Qureshi, Regional Marketing Director, NAMESA Region said, “This is our way to come together and touch the lives of our little guests with a view to make them realize that the world is a truly wonderful place. Our endeavour is to connect with children through active and personal involvement of our employees and their families. It is our way build to bridges for an ongoing relationship with NGO’s and government bodies across the NAMESA Region to continuously repay the community by helping those who are less fortunate.”
Amongst different themes for the day in the NAMESA Region are Arabian Nights, Snow White and Seven Dwarfs, Mickey Mouse, Wonderland and Cartoon Characters. The day is packed with fun filled activities including kids’ competitions, joyrides, bouncy castles, puppet show, magic show, singing and dancing competitions, face painting, card making, puppet show, quiz competition, juggling, tug of war, lemon and spoon race, nail painting, games stalls, a band and special games for disabled children. A lavish menu of food including vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes is organised according to the taste of children of the respective countries.
