Sterlite Foundation endeavors for the development of the less privileged through its Computer Education, Child Care, Women Empowerment and Tribal Welfare projects. The Foundation envisions strengthening the society to achieve substantial growth and progress through education and vocational training. The Foundation is a public charitable trust registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, of registration number E 14045 (Mumbai) 15.09.92. It has approval of U/S 35AC, U/S 80G of the income Tax Act, 1961 and is registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulations Act, 1976. The Vedanta Group funds the Foundation in performing philanthropic activities in the country. Keeping in mind the need for trained work force, the Foundation initiated Sterlite Shiksha. “STERLITE SHIKSHA” is a community outreach training program for the less privileged to enhance their skills, abilities and personalities. The courses offered are Basics in Computers, Retail Management, Call Centre Training, Personal Assistant, Hardware, DTP and Tally. The course is for two months duration and is planned in such a manner that the student develops a full fledged understanding of the subject and would be eligible for placements. Placement assistance to suitable candidates will be provided by the Foundation. The detail about Sterlite Shiksha has been attached. COURSE DETAILS BASIC COURSE IN COMPUTERS Besides introducing students to the fundamentals of computers, this module will familiarize them with Fundamentals of Windows, Notepad and Office 2000. CALL CENTER TRAINING (BASIC) The objective of the call centre course is basics of effective communications, the art of customer service, dealing with difficult customers, telephone skills for quality customer service, successful negotiation and telephone sales skills. RETAIL MANAGEMENT (BASIC) The retail management course would cover Effective Communication and Customer Relationship Management. PERSONAL ASSISTANT The objective of personal assistant course is communication skills, telephone etiquettes and related office work. HARDWARE (BASIC) The objective is to ensure that the person studying hardware is able to troubleshoot and resolve conflicts in the computer systems.
